liMore Plague Cases Two brothers, residing at Camperdown, Sydney were found to be suffering from plague. They both worked in Sussex street, in the city, where several fatal cases have occurred. Irish League The Nationalist members of the House of Commons have condemned the "AH for Ireland League" recently founded in Cork to advance, by all peaceable means, the agitation for the autonomy of Ireland, as being inimcal to the Nationalists.cause. Russian Spy's Fate The body of a young Russian, supposed to be a traitorous spy, has been found lying in the garret of a house in Rome. Apparently he bad been poisoned. Influenza Scourge Influenza of a very virulent type continues throughout England, and during the last week 125 deaths have resulted from the complaint in London. British Labour Legislation Mr Winston Churchill, President of the Board of Trade, has introduced into the House of Commons a bill to establish wages boards in certain trades, empowered to fix and enforce minimum standard wages. The bill is applicable to home and factory work. The boards are given full power of in- I spection, detection and punishment. Labour members enthusiastically support the bill, which goes further than the "Sweated Industries Bill, 1908."
Gold Among Graves Stone taken from a claim in the cemetery at Peakhill yielded 3 ounces to the ton. Applications for leases covering the whole cemetery have been made.
Rugby Rivalry Satisfaction was expressed at the annual meeting of the N.S.W. Rugby Union at the coming visit of the Pon--B"nby, Auckland, team. A member of the "Wallaby" team said, "We want New Zealanders now. When we meet them it will be with the conviction that we are as good as they, and not sure of the result till the numbers go up."
Society Leader's Suicide After giving a dinner in honour of Lady Paget, the American-born wife of Lieutenant-General Sir Arthur Paget, commanding the Eastern Command, Mrs Pierre Lorrillard, wife of a well known tobacco magnate, committed suicide. She was missed for some time, and eventually her body was found in the bathroom, where she had suffocated herselfby closing up all the openings and then turning on the gas. She was still wearing her dinner gown and diamond coronet.
Venezuela's Ex-President Ex-president Castro, of Venezuela, who has been in Europe for attention,is returning to South America. He will remain in the British Island of Trinidad, and will not be allowed to land in Venezuela. Owners of steamers will be prosecuted if they carry' him back to Caracas.
