CORRESPONDENCE.

Te Kuiti Streets

Sir, —Now that the streets of the Township, on the East side of the railway are approaching completion,— roads formed, water channels and footpaths made, but with the exception of Rora Street, no curolrg—l should like to know -what our saricrt County Council is doing to preserve them during the existing drp weather. It is a common sight ail da;: loner to see the various butcher bops, errand bovs, and hoodlums of ah classes aru sizes, riding their horses along arc across the footpaths, and taking snort cuts at most of the comers, acres; the footpaths. In addition, numberless drsvs, carts, etc., --to sap nothing of bikesuse the same method of transit, and the most casual observer cannot fail to see the tracks made, leading into .- JBS various sections, of horses and dravs, of course, breaking down the soft soil into the waterways. These latter should be made to form a way. &- their own expense, across the footrnaths, say of timber or limestone slabs. As it is now, the water channels are about full up, and, if we ever get anv more rain, we shall have some repetition of the old lagoons, which was thought to be a relic of ancient caps, from its inability to get away. As the ratepayers have got to pap for all this, it seems only fair that these ''including many non-ratepayers ■ so cutting up our roads and footpath.;, should have their reckless proceeding; regulated, otherwise they don't care a straw, seeing that .not one penny comes out of their pockets, to pap for the damage, and it becomes the dutp of the Council (if it's not moribund; to regulate these people and their misdoings. -- I am, etc., W. R. FRANKLIN.
