IMMIGRANTS AND LABOUR.
♦ A telegram from Wellington states that those labour bodies which have been protesting against the methods of immigration of late will doubtless be satisfied at their action now that the Minister for Labour makes it publicly known from inquiries made by his Department it appears that nearly the whole of the tradesmen who are com- ! ing out to the Dominion are being desi patched by shipping agents, who receive a commi-sion. The immigrants ' complain that the labour position here ; is totally misrepresented, ani the Dei partment finds itself in a most unpleasant position.
