RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUES.
Meeting at Te Kuiti. A meeting of representatives from various districts within the Waitomo County was held in Mr Mussen's office last night. The meeting was in response to an invitation from the Te Kuiti branch of the Farmers' Union, and settlers from Aria, Mairoa, Paemako, Waitomo, Mangaotaki, Kaeaea, Ngapaenga, Miroahuiao and other localities attended. Mr R. M. Somerville occupied the chair and explained the object of the meeting, and proposed that the necessary steps be taken with a view to instituting rating on unimproved values in the county. Mr Pine seconded the motion which was
carried. On the motion of Mr Pine, .seconded
by Mr Nixon, it was decided that petitions be sent to each district in the County fpr signature by ratepayers. T/hc petitions to be returnable on or before next April stock sale.
The following were appointed to take charge of the petitions in the various districts: Troopers Block, Mr Pine; Aria. Mr P. D. Smyth; Kaeaea. Mr A. R. Keighley; Waitomo. Mr J. J. Nixon; Mairoa, Mr N. B. l.usk : Mangaotaki and Paeamk". Mr Aider: Ngafiaenga. Mr Fetch; 'IV Kuiri. Mr ForUscue; Mr H. \'<iyc>-: Hangatiki, Mr Board; Farmers' Uni":i.
