HAMILTON SENSATION.
Alleged Stabbing Affray. Reside*is of Hamilton were shocked to (earn that a man named Robert Lock hsd been attested about 11 o'ekek on Monday night on a charge of stabbing bis wife m the stomach.
The affatr is said to have occurred about i o'clock on • Monday afternoon. Dr Recce was sent for. and about 10 o'clock on Monday night Mrs I<ock was removed to the hospital, where a very rerious operation was performed by Dr Douglas, assisted by Dr Reece. Lock was arrested about 11 o'clock the same night. Tnc knife having penetrated the intestines, the unfortunate woman is not expected to recover, and accordingly the police repaired to the hospital to take her depositions, and waited until 3 o'clock on Tuesday morning. Mrs Lock, however, refused to make any statement, and so far the tragedy i' shrouded in mystery. Lcck deni»-» that he had anything to do with the injury, and state* that it was caused by a fall in the yard. It? did not know anything about it until he was told by one of his children, and he at once sent for the doctor. Accused was brought up at the Police Court on Tuesday morning, and wa< re- ! manded.
