MR HONE HEKE'S FUNERAL.
The funeral obsequies of Mr Mow j flake* M.P., commenced at Wellington on Thursday lajt. The remains were j accompanied to the Thorndon station by a considerable gathering, including members of the Ministry present in Wellington, local members of Parliament head* of Departments, several Xkd. ofParli«r.cntand the Native Department, besidesanomberofpnvatecitiseiis. In accordance *«l> old Maori custom, the body remained until Friday at Otaki, where » *»** ww held. On Friday the remains were taken as far as Wanganoi. where another opportunity Natives to show their respect for Abased. The body will be taken on to Kaikohe for interment.
