MATIERE.
(Own Correspondent).
The weather which has been very wet and unseasonable during the last fortnight, has cleared up at last, and there are indications that we are going to have a dry spell for a time. Mr C. Ryan's teams have arrived, and are going to make a start with the metalling contract at Mangaroa.
The Rev. C. Beecroft. President of the Methodist Church, is to pay a visit to the Ohura district during this week, and intends to conduct Divine service, and give several addresses during his visit.
At the invitation of Master Fred Hyde, a large number of the local school children assembled at the Hall on Saturday night, and were given a treat in the form of a lantern and cinematograph entertainment. The slides, which were mostly of a humorous nature, were much appreciated by those present. Refreshments were also handed round during the evening. At the conclusion three cheers were heartily given for Master Hyde.
