IMPROVING TE KUITI.

The scheme of improvements in connection with Te Kuiti township is now in a fair way towards being carried out. The first of the tenders for the various works were discussed at the last meeting of the Waitomo, County Council, and the tender of Messrs Hattaway and Doherty for No. 2 contract, drainage work on the Western side of the railway, was accepted. The tender of Mr Mahood for the formation work on Rora Street and Sheridan and King Streets was also accepted conditionally, and it is expected a start will be made immediately, as the work has to be completed within a month. Tenders are now being called for the remaining portions of the work.
