KIRITEHERE-MAROKOPA.
(Own Correspondent) Great regret was felt throughout the district at the news of the death of the eldest daughter of Mr Stanley of Marokopa, on Thursday last. The occurrence was extremely sudden, the child having been playing at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, and she died at 6 o'clock the same evening. Hemorrhage of the brain was the cause of death.
The weather this season has been very broken, the sunshine being greatly mixed with showers, while the winds have been more frequent and of greater severity than is usually the case. However, the season is an exceptionally good one for grass, and if sufficient dry weather occurs to give settlers a chance of having decent bush burns, there will be no cause for complaint.
