Bay of Plenty Seat. ,] The second ballot for the Bay of Plenty seat provoked an immense amount of interest and the contest was keenly fought. At the first ballot Mr Macdonald, the Government candidate secured a lead of 430 votes over Mr Gow, the Oppositionist, but as the independent candidate, Mr Lundon secured 897 votes, ample margin was left for a surprise to eventuate. Mr Massey and Mr Herries took and active part in furthering Mr Gow's candidature, while Dr Findlay, Attorney General, together with other members of the Government, assisted Mr Macdonald. - The second pallot on Tuesday confirmed the votes given at the first ballot and Mr Macdonald was returnei by a majority of 431, the figures being 2592 against 2161.
