NAPIER WOOL SALE.
A Firm Market, The first wool sale of the season yf&B held at Napier on Tuesday, when Qvpp §7OO bales were offred, There waß ft large attendance of buyers from America, England, the Continent, and Southern and local mills, and a feature of the sale was keen competition for all lots of wool suitable for the American market, and for best qualities of fine crossbreds, prices ranging from lOd to 12Jd. Coarse crossbreds also showed a considerable rise in prices, as compared with the closing rates of September, and were equal to prices obtained in this market at the December sale of 1907. The condition of the wool throughout was much better than it was last year, being better grown and in splendid order. A few lots showed that no care had been taken in skirting. Following is the range of prices obtained: —Fine crossbreds: Good, lOd to 121 d; medium, 8d to 9£d; inferior, 6d to 7Jd. Coarse crossbreds,
BJd;\ medium, EJd to Id. -fiWD First quality, 4£d'to6d4 Jsecond quality, 3d to 4d; locks, lid to 3d.
