KIRITEHERE - MARAKOPA MAIL.
With reference to the criticism which appeared in last weeks '"Chronicle" regarding the manner in which the Kiritehere and Marakopa mails are delivered, we are informed that when the service was instituted it was arranged that, for the public convenience the mail carrier should deliver letters to the settlers along the road which he traversed. The Chief Postmaster evidently interpreted the arrangement to mean that the letter bags should be unsealed, and this course i 3 adopted under his instructions. The settlers are now moving in the matter of having another Post-office established in the district at Glengregg, and a requisition to that effect is being circulated. With the establishment of a new office the postal requirements of the district would be met for the present, and the necessity for unsealed bags would be obviated. It is to be hoped no obstacle will be found to the instituting of the new office aa our backblock settlers are deserving of every consideration at the hands of various Departments, and aB the cost of administration will not be increased there is i'every inducement for thcT)epartment to consider the matter favourably.
