OHURA VALLEY.

(Own Correspondent.) "Very complete arrangements have now been made at the Defence Rifle Club's range for the successful carrying on of the season's shooting. The range is a very fine one indeed, providing for shooting up to 1500 yards, over level country, with a splendid back ground. The number of new members that continue to swell the ranks of the Club argues well for its success. Considerable practice has been indulged in during the winter months, and if I am any judge of shooting we may confidently look forward in the near future to the Club supplying a team of Rifle shots equal to any in the Dominion. The best thanks of the Club are due to the President, Mr David Bruce, for his liberality in not only giving the free use of his property, but also supplying a large amount of labour necessary to the making of a good rifle range. Mr Geo. Denison has kindly donated £1 5s to the funds of the Club. At a meeting of the executive it was decided to open the Shooting Season on November sth with a Handicap Match (7 shots at 200, 500 and 600 yards). First prize, Shooting Bag, value £1 10s; second prize, 100 rounds of .303 ammunition; third prize, 50 "rounds of .303 ammunition. Entrance fee, ls;?close Saturday 31st; late entry 6d extra. A lady's match has been arranged commencing at 2 p..m First prize, Lady's Gold Brooch; second, Pair Lady's Spurs. A goodly number of ladies have signified their intention of taking part, and favoured with fine leather the day's opening should prove a most enjoyable one. There is to be a grand concert and dance, commencing at 8 o'clock, the same evening, when a good programme will be presented, including items from Matiere friends, Mr and Mrs Hyde and others; also several lady singers from the Waikatc.
