MATIERE.

(Own Correspondent.) The first sitting of the Magistrates' Court in the Ohura District, was held at Matiere on the 16th inst. Owing to the Magistrate being unable to be present the Court was presided over by Messrs. T. De Vere Hunt, W. Williams and W. A. Carter, J's.P. A young man was charged on the information of the police with being drunk and using absenc language at Ongarue.. Owing to it being his first appearance and his expression of regret, the Justices decided to dismiss the first charge and inflict a fine of 40/- and costs on the second charge. In the defended case, Luckman v. Coventry, (claim for repairs to trap) the Court decided in favour of plaintiff. Several other cases were called but plaintiffs failed to appear.
