For the winners Cleaver and Cotter were prominent in the rushes, and the forwards all worked hard. Among the backs F. Kerr played a clean, nippy game, and his goal was a pretty bit of play. The visitors lacked combination though there were flashes of good play. Coburn was well marked and had the misfortune to receive a nasty kick on the head in the second spell. Mr N. B." Lusk controlled the game efficiently.

Nehinehinui v. Oparure. The Nehinehinui players journeyed to Oparure and (defeated the local team by 8 points to nil. The game was of a very friendly nature, and was in favour of the visitors throughout. In the first spell a try was scored by F. Gemming, but was not converted. In the second spell J. Hetet crossed the Oparure line, and from the kick succeeded in adding the major points. Mr Holland controlled the game efficiently.

The Anglo-Welsh football team, suffered yet another defeat on Saturday last when they were beaten by Auckland by II points to nil. Several of the star players among the visitors were incapacitated owing to injuries received in previous games, and the team which took the field was hardly as strong as it otherwise would have been. The Aucklanders placed an exceptionally strong forward team in the field, and contrary to general expectation, the local backs also showed good form. From all accounts the visitors collapsed badiy in the final stages of the game, and were fortunate in not having a larger score registered against them.

Pfior to the big match the Waikato representatives tried conclusions with the Auckland " B " team, and after a close game the country team emerged victorious by Q points to 6.

The following team been selected to represent Nehinehinui in their match against Te Kuiti, to be played at Te Kuiti on Saturday next, July 25 th : Full, Rou; threequarters, Tuheka, J. Hetet, Grey; five-eights, Harris ; half, Duke ; forwards, Gemming, Toki, Ruru, ■ H. Turner, Whare, Huiatahi, Taylor, Barney. Warihi. Emergencies :W. Kio, T. Nikora, Dick, Brown.

Mr. N. B. Lusk, sole selector for the Maniopoto Rugby Union, will have the opportunity of witnessing a game from the boundary line on gatarday next. Hitherto Mr. Lusk has been required to fill the position of referee, but in order to give him the necessary opportunity of gauging the merits of the players with a view to picking a representative team against the King Country Union, it was decided to obtain a referee from Taumarunui, for the Te Kuiti-Ne-hinehinui match.
