KING COUNTRY REQUIREMENTS.

Parliamentary Notes.

BY TELEGRAPH. (Special Correstpbndeat.) In speaking on the Loan Bill Mr Jennings made a strong claim oh the Minister for Public Works to start the Stratford-North Island Main Trunk connection from the Auckland end as soon as possible after the completion of the Main Trunk line. The Minister informed Mr Jennings that the request of the Kavvhia settlers urging the construction of a branch line, to connect Kawhia district with the Auckland railway system, will receive consideration by the Government when the authorisation of new lines is being dealt with. The request for better railway facilities at Otorohanga is receiving attention by the authorities. The Auckland Traffic Manager informs the member that the tablet system is to be installed at that place, which means that the changes mentioned by the deputation of Otorohanga settlers to Mr Jennings, when the Premier visited the district, will be fully considered. Matters of interest to the district, dealing with roads, telephone communication, postal facilities, schools, etc., have been brought before the various Departments by the Member since Parliament opened, and action will be taken at the earliest possible time.
