TE KUITI CEMETERY.
Attention has at various times been directed to the condition the public cemetery at Te Kuiti, and efforts are now being made to obtain the assistance of the public in putting the ground into a proper state. At a meeting of the Trustees last week, it was decided to appeal to the public for subscriptions, and lists have been left with Messrs F. H. Sims, W. Lorigan, J. Nicholls and Green and Colebrook, Ltd. It is to be hoped the public will respond liberally for such a worthy object. Little urging should be required to impress people with a sense of their responsibility in the matter, as what may be termed the sentimental obligations always Appeal most strongly to the community at large. The sentiment attaching to " God's acre " is one which appeals to us all, and by assisting towards maintaining the cemetery decently, we are but living up to the traditions of decency and self-respect, which should exist in all civilised communities.
