TE KUITI LOAN.

The poll for the purpose of deciding > for'Or-against the loan proposal for i Te Kuiti was taken at Hetet's Hall oh 1 Monday last, and resulted in a most decided expression of opinion in favour ! of a progressive policy by the town residents. During the day fifty-three votes were recorded, fifty-two being in favour of the proposal. A striking fact in connection with the poll was that not a single vote was recorded against the loan, the one vote not recorded favourably being informal. The total number of votes on the roll is 97, so that the percentage exercised may be considered satisfactory, as the majority of unrecorded votes are held by absentees. In connection with the loan it is intended to apply for a substantial subsidy, and a meeting of the committee appointed to attend to the application is to be held in the Chronicle office next Monday even ing, at 7.30 p.m.
