On a second charge of using obscene language, to which he pleaded not guilty, a fine of £2 and 3s costs was imposed.—Samuel Bullen and David Coleman, for being drunk in a public place, were both fined ss, and costs amounting to 15s 4d. Considerable local interest was manifested in football match Te Awamutu v. Kihikihi. The Kihikihi representatives were successful in winning both matches, and defeated the seniors by 13 points, and juniors by 16 points. Messrs Macky and Crighton acted as referee in the respective matches.

MrS. I-I. Dwcn will supply a longfelt local want when he opens in his new premises next Saturday with a complete stock of tobacco and other goods, and the saloon for the hairdressing branch of the business is receiving special attention. Mr Worthington, of the Roads Department, is now in this district in connection with the laying out of the roads on the Teasdale Ssttlement. This work was expected to have been carried out some time back, but although somewhat delayed, when the work is completed, considerable advantages will be reaped. The saleyards will be benefitted by the new road, which will prove of great service to those having business in connection with the yards.
