TE AWAMUTU.
The usual monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu Town Board was held in the Hall on Thursday evening, there being present: Messrs J. B. Teasdale (chairman), D. Bockett, S. Mathers, H. Y. Collins and M. S. Laurie.
The Chairman reported that he had attended a meeting in Auckland, and a deputation to the Premier in regard to increasing the annual borrowing powers of Town Boards. The Minisr ter stated that there were considerable difficulties in the way and the in* crease unlikely. The Chairman also reported that he had waited on the Commissioner of Crown Lands in regard to forming the roads on the Teasdale settlement, and, in reply, the Commissioner had stated that £4OO had been appropriated for this! - purpose, and the forming of some of the chief roads would be proceeded with at once. It was resolved that an overdraft up to the Board's legal limit should be obtained from the Bank of New Zealand, and the necessary authority was signed for this purpose. The Clerk is to write to the District Valuer requesting him to attend at Te Awamutu to adjust valuations. The tender of Mr J. Horniss ns caretakes of the Town Hall was accepted. It was resolved that Messrs Bockett, Collins and Laurie be appointed a Hall Committee. The following accounts were passed for paymentT.Smith7s, W. Teddy 5s 6d, Burns and Co. £l 6s Bd, M. A. Going £1 7s, Gifford and £| 4 s 7d.
