HONIKIWI.
o Last Saturday night the long promised social, in aid of the school funds, took place and proved a great success. The weather the day before and Saturday morning promised heavy rain for the night, but the evening proved very fine, and the result was a record attendance of about seventy. Dancing was the great feature of the evening, and was hept up till midnisht. Songs were rendered bv Messrs' F. and T. Nicholson and Mr Abbott. Mr Geo. Forbes provided a fund of amusement with his graohaphone and a fine selection of Edison records. Mr G. B. Budden made a capable M.C., and abundant refreshment was supplied by the ladies of the district. At the close three cheers were given for the musicians and three more for Mr and Mrs Clarke, who had taken the leadingpart in getting up the social, which placed the sum of £2 to the credit of the school funds. It is proposed to have another social in about two months time.
