OTOROHANGA.
A very painful accident occurred to a Maori Whaivkura whilst engaged in "haulm-; k-e> Iror. 1 . tne mill bush to the saw mills last Friday. The unfortunate man_ had one leg broken, and was otherwise badly bruised, and suffered severely from shock. He was conveyed to the Hamilton Hospital by early train on Saturday morning and was received for treatment. The Otorohanga Football Club held a race meeting last Saturday afternoon, but owing to the Hamilton races clashing, the attendance was somewhat affected. The racing was of an interesting character, the Footballers' Hack Race causing considerable excitement as well as much amusement. The results of the racing are as follows :—Hurdles. —Kaipara I, Blue Gum 2. Hack Race.— Pitoitoi I, Kaipara 2. Cup.—Koran I, Hornpipe 2. Pony Race—Rauwha I, Hornpipe 2. Footballers' Hack Race.—Dora (Budge) I, Sprague (Prince) 2. Nobby v Clark) 3. Flying.—Korari I, Pitoitoi 2. A concert and dance was held in the evening and was greatly enjoyed by those present.
