OTOROHANGA.

The annual football match, " Bush versus Town," took place on Saturday last. There was a large crowd of spectators present, and a sum of £3 53 was collected at the gate, which amount has been forwarded to the Hamilton Hospital. The game, which was well contested, resulted in a win for the Town by Q points to nil, this being the second time the Town having provedthemselves victors. The " good old horse" Davey Turner, captained the winning team, and Bob Gregg officiated in a like capacity for the "Bushmen." A lively interest was taken in the match, as the losers had to " shell out " for a sumptuous repast in the evening. The dinner, which was served in the dining room of the hotel, proved everything that could be desired, and great credit is due to Mr and Mrs Cater and family for the excellent manner in which the arrangements were carried out. The room was tastefully decorated with the colours of the Otorohanga Football Club, and over fifty hungry footballers and their supporters sat down and did ample justice to the good things provided, The President' of the Club (Mr John Ormsby) eulogised the game, and remarked that as a Domain Board had now been formed, Otorohanga would soon possess a recreation ground for football, athletic sports, etc., which would rival that of any Other township in the King Country. The Alhambra Entertainers having engaged the hall, the Smoke Concert had to be postponed until after their performance was over, when a very enjoyable evening was spent. Songs were rendered by Messrs Johnson, Furber, Forster, Burchell, Law, Kelly and Andreson. A hornpipe by C. Moon was loudly applauded, the Alhambrians also contributing liberally to the programme. The proceedings terminated with the singing of '" Auld Lang Syne," and as the clock chimed the midnight hour everyone journeyed home well pleased with his evening's entertainment. The first meeting of the Otorohanga Branch of the Farmers' Union will be held on Saturday afternoon next, and all members, and those desirous of becoming members, are requested to attend.
