HANGATIKI.
VThe-.-sch.ool at-, Hangatiki. is. now completed, and the children were first admitted on Tuesday, September I/th. It is proposed by the settlers 7 to hold a ball in the school to celebrate the opening. Whitehousc's Variety and Living Picture Entertainment will be held in the school on September 23rd, and should the day be fine, a full house will be certain. Preparations are now afoot for the erection of an up-to-date store here. This will be a great boon to the district. In all probability, before long we will be provided with a billiard room and a hall. The goods shed here is always packed with goods and the surplus is thrown into the waiting room. This state of affairs will soon be at an end as a new station is shortly to be built. Many of the children, and some of the parents, of Hangatiki, have been very seriously ill with influenza, bad colds, and ail manner of ailments. Residents, generally, consider this locality to be very healthy, but bearing in mind the awful weather we have lately had, the great wonder is that we have not had more sickness.
