BASKET SOCIAL AT TE KUITI.
The above social, in aid of the funds of the Te Kuiti Tennis Club, took place in iletct's Hall on Tuesday evening' last, and was a pronounced success, although the baskets did nol fetch llv.' fabulous prices realised at previous socials, of the kind at To Kuiti. This was rather disappointing, as the ladies spared no pains in making' their baskcls as dainty looking as possible, and in some cases the prices paid would not be as much as it cost the owners in titivating their "suppers for two." Some <>f the flaskets were really works of art, and it was regretted that flic auctioneer was unable to be present. However, a most enjoyable evening, was spent, and dancing' was kept up vigorously till the wee sma' hours of the morning. The lloor was in cxcllenl order fov dancing, and the decorations in the shape of greenery took away the bareness of the walls. Mr j. lletct supplied splendid music, and during the evening Mrs Walter, Miss Kerr and Mr Hawkins contributed songs. Mr Boles, as usual, made an ellicient M.C., and did nol allow the proceedings to lag throughout (he evening'.
