BENEFIT SOCIAL.
The benefit social to William Cole, who recently met with a gun accident at Te Kuiti, which took place in Mr Hetet's hall on Thursday evening of last week, was one of the most successful held here for some time. The hall was taxed to its utmost, - and eveiy detail was carried out without a hitch by the Committee. The ladies of Te Kuiti kindly assisted in supplying supper, and, needless to say, it was much appreciated by those present. Dancing was kept up until the small hours of the morning, when all dispersed thoroughly satisfied with the evening's enjoyment. Messrs C. Turner (cornet), and J. Hetet (piano), supplied excellent music. During the evening the following musical items were rendered : —Song, " Doreen," MiArmstrong ; song, " Daddy," Miss Kerr; song, " Come into the Garden, Maud," Mr Hawkins ; song, " Sing me to Sleep," Miss New ; song, " The Goodwin Sands," Mr Pavitt; mandolin solo, Mr V. Kirlc. The proceeds of the social, after paying expenses, amounted to £9 15s, and together with the amount obtained by subscription, makes a total of £2l lOs.
