Hides: The market is easier. We quote —Extra stout ox, 7%d to Bd, stout do., to 7d, medium do., 6d to 6%d, light, 5%d to 5%d, cow, best lines 5%d to 6d, good S%d to stags', 3%d to calfskins, 6%d to 6%d, damaged hides, 4a to sd. Sheepskins: Market firm. Best butckcrs' pelts 4s 3d to 4s Bd, medium 3s 3d to 43, small 2s 6d to 2s 9d.
Tallow : Market easier. Best mixed up to 26s 9d, good 23s to 24s 6d, inferior 20s to 2ls 3d, rough fat l%d per lb. Horsehair: is 6d to Is 7/4 d per lb. Bones: £5. Cowtails : Is 8d per dozen. Maize : Local is firm at 3s 4d ex store.
Oats are in good demand at 3s ex store.
Wheat: Prime samples are finding ready sale at 3s 9d. Chaff is firm at £5 5s for compressed fodder and prime samples of local. Lower grades are slow of sale. Butter: Prime separator is only realising Bd. Milling quality is in poor demand at 7%d. Cheese: Prime factory would sell freely at 6%d, but is slow of sale at 6Hd. Fungus is wanted at sd.
At the last fortnightly sale held in Wellington, catalogues .were submitted by Dalgety and Company, Abraham and Williams, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Levin and Company, and Murray, Roberts and Company. Prices throughout were easier than at last sale, and the attendance was limited. Prices realised : —Wool Medium crossbred 8 3 Ad to 9d, coarse 7%d to 9%d, inferior 7V\d to Bd, lambs, inferior 7d, crutchings 4%d to 6%d, pieces 4%d to 6%d. Skins—Merino 7d to 7%d, crossbred medium B%d to 9d, coarse 8d to9%d, shorts to B%d, lambs B%d to 9d, dead 6%d to 7%d, green skins 5s id to 5s 9d, pelts 7%d to 7Md, lambs' pelts Is 6d to 3s. Hides—Ox 70lbs and over 6%d per lb, 6olbs to 69lbs 5%d to 9%d, 45lbs to 59lbs 5%d to 6%d, 44lbs anp under 5d to 5%d, calf 6d to 6%. TallowCasks £25 5s per ton, in tins 2ls 6d per cwt.
