Mr Dobbie acted as interlocutor, and Mr Manning as stage manager. A humorous farce, entitled " lhe Doctor," concluded an excellent programme, and the hall was cleared for dancing, which was kept up till daylight. Great credit is due to. the Committee and to the secretarj- (Mr G. C. Stevenson), who worked hard to make the entertainment a success.

On Saturday night last, Mr D. Sullivan, of Glenavon, Mahorahora, gave a bachelor's dinner to his numerous friends, as a house-warming celebration. About thirty guests were present, and apologies were received from several who were unavoidably absent. Mr Sullivan is one of the pioneer settlers of the district, and has earned the highest respect and esteem of all.
