TIROA.
Mr D. Adamson, of this district, and Miss Johnson, of Thames, were joined in the holy bonds of matrimony in the latter district a couple of weeks ago, and the young couple's return here was awaited with keen, interest. On Saturday night the population rolled out en masse with tin cans, bullock bells, in fact with anything that would make a noise, under the leadership of Mr Saunders, and stormed Mr Adamson's residence. After a while all were invited in by the young couple, and a most enjoyable evening was spent. I regret to say our gallant leader was accidentally placed hors de combat for a short period. On Wednesday evening a farewell was tendered to Mr and Mrs Muir, who are severing their connection with the firm of Ellis and Burnand. A large number of friends journeyed to the Tiroa Hall, where dancing was indulged in till the early hours of the morning. Mr G. Butcher, on behalf of the company, in a very neat speech, expressed the sincere regret of all concerned, in losing such good neighbours. Mr Muir not being present, Mr Phillips, on behalf of Mrs Muir, thanked the promoters for their kindness. Great credit is due to Mesdames Butcher, Hughes, Peterson, and Henderson in making the function a pronounced success.
