STOCK SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd., report as follows: — At Pirongia, on March Ist, we yarded over 300 head cattle. Competition was good throughout, everything changing hands. Fresh 2%year steers realised £4 16s; 2-year steers, £3 ios to £3 14s ; yearling to 18-month steers, £2 3s to £2 I2s; mixed yearlings, £1 16s to £2 4s; strong good calves, £l to £l ss; others, 14s to 17s 6d; fresh cows, £2 15s to £4. At Hamilton on Friday (a day later than usual owing to the Cambridge Show on Thursday) we yarded about 500 head cattle. Competition was dull throughout, but a fair number changed hands after the sale. Steer beef made up to £7 5s ; cow beef, not wanted, made £5 5s ; 2-year steers, £3 4s!; 18-month steers, £2 2s to £2 6s 6d; good calves, £1 7s 6d. Pigs : weaners 6s 6d ; slips, 13s 3d to 14s. Sheep : cull ewes, 8s to 12s 9d; fat lambs, I2s 9d ; fat wethers and ewes, 14s 7d to 16s 6d.
