TAUMARUNUI.

A team from the Rangaroa Tennis Club visited Mangapeehi last week, and, though unsuccessful at the courts, had a most enjoyable time. A return of the visit is expected next week, when the local players hope to give a better account of themselves. On Friday last, an oil launch was brought up in the train from Auckland. The vessel was built to the order of Messrs Levin and Co., of Wellington, and is intended for the river trade at lFoxton. On Saturday the launch was hauled to the river by bullocks, and left for its destination on Monday morning, in charge of Mr T. Allen. The cantata, "Rolling Seasons, was rendered by the united choirs in the Presbyterian Church on the I2th ult. There was a fair attendance and the performance was highly successful. Mr Frank Brown, choir master,, is to be complimented for his work in connection with the piece. The various parts were taken as follows: — Organ, Mrs Laird; violin, Miss Brown; soloists, Mesdames Laird, Brown, Gardiner, Misses Hyland and Laird, Messrs Dews, Brown, Laird and Rev: S. Spencer. The Rev. Bush read a descriptive piece on the subject of the cantata, and the Rev. "Ward spoke appropriately of the helpfulness of music, and congratulated all who had taken part in the performance.
