HOBART, Dec 20 The Attorney General has submitted the opinion that Colonial Treasurer is only obeying law in demanding Income Tax from Victorians doing business in Tasmania. Under the Act he says there is nothing contrary to English law or practice in imposing or collecting such tax. MELBOURNE, Dec 20 In the Legislative Assembly the Absentee Land 'Tax Bill, imposing- an additional 20 per cent on property owned by persons absent from Colony for a period of 2 years, was read a second time. The same Chamber passed the Standard Time Bill. The Legislative Council, by 38 to 5, carried a motion to postpone discussion on the Laud and Income Tax Bill for a fortnight.
