Fires.
AUCKLAND, June 4
Ashop and dwelling on the Manukau Road, Parnell, owned by Presbyterian • Orphanage Trust, and occupied by Edward Wood, grocer, has been burned. Insurance on the building is £359 in New Zealand Office, and Wood has £314 on his stock in North German Office. Mrs Wood escaped from an upper window with a child 4 years of age. She fell from the verandah and fractured her thigh, and the child’s leg was also broken. FEATHERSTON, June 5 Office of Town Board was destroyed bv fire at 6 o’clock this morning; origin unknown. An uneasy feeling pervades the district that there is an incendiary about. WELLINGTON, June 7 A portion of the Meat Export Company’s premises at Ugahauranga, comprising tallow and manure works and a manure store were destroyed by fire at midnight on Tuesday. Damage considerable; £2,000 worth of manure alone was destroyed, besides some valuable machinery recently imported.
