RACING.

(BY PROTEUS)

All the horses engaged in the two closed handicaps on Thursday's programme have been accepted for. This is not out of any compliment to the handicapper, but the owners view it that they may just as well have a run for their money. It is a fact, though, that none of the knowing ones can spot the probable results. Leo appears to have become stale, though, if he should revive by Thursday, he may pull through. Hippo will not have Bandy Gray up this time—both horse and rider seemed to know one another thoroughly—l fancy he will about win the Handicap. I shall vote him first, with Contractor 2, Leo 3.

The result of the Birthday Handicap should give a line as to the issue of the Flying. I anticipate it will be : Contractor 1, Hippo 2, Hard Case 3. Though it would not surprise me to see Hippo and Leo fight out the finish. Large fields are assured for the Maiden and the Hack Handicap. Dan O Brien’s Fiorrie won the Rosehill (Sydney) Handicap. Breeder’s Foal Stakes, Manchester : Plunkett’s Port Marnock 1, Baird’s Urnorna 2, Porter’s Red Heart 3.

Manchester Cup: Red Ensign and Sbancrotha dead heat, Progression 3.
