Yesterday two shocks of earthquakes were felt in the City, A sharp one at 4 35a.m., and a severe one at 9 45a.m. Latter caused some damage, and sensation. Shocks also felt at Masterton, Blenheim, Wanganui, Woodville, Marton, Greytown, Nelson, Hawera, Christchurch and New Plymouth.

MAIL NOTICES Mails close at Kaikoura, for Blenheim and Intermediate, overland, on Wednesdays at 7 36 pm. Christchurch aud Intermediate, overland, on Wednesdays at 7 30 pm. Seaborne mails close 7 am on day *f steamer's arrival. (
