PIGEON SHOOTING.
On Friday last a series of Pigeon Shooting contests took place at Heathcote. Owing to a Trotting Meeting having been postponed from the Tuesday until the day set down fot* the Pigeon matches, several sportsmen who were to have taken part in the shooting were absent. The shooting was noticeable for the
fine form shown by Mr H. Bailey, of Rangiora, who did not miss a bird all day, “ grassin? ” 20 in all. Messrs Redwood, Wool ven and Brown were the best of the rest, and these three gentlemen, together with Mr Bailey, took all tile tiioney. Messrs Ranker and Garrard handicapped. The former also acted as Referee, while the second named Was the secretary. Sween NO 1 : 5 birds ; 20s entrance.
Mr Bailey took Ist prize. In Shooting off for"2nd and 3rd money, Messrs wood and Brown won.
