WEDDING BELLS
BRIEN—CONNORS CEREMONY AT NGATEA On Easter Thursday, at noon, the marriage of Mrs Floss Connors, eldest daughter of Mrs M. Reid of Pt. Chevalier and formerly Turua, to Thomas Brien (returned from Middle East), took place at the Ngatea Methodist Church. Rev. G. A. Crammond was the officiating l minister and Mr R. J. Smith played the wedding music.
The bride who entered the church with Bombardier J. W. Mitchell (on furlough) wore an attractive frock of azure blue crepe, on the bodice of which were cyclamen beaded sprays. Her matching felt hat was fashioned with a heart-shaped brim and she carried a lovely bouquet of cyclamen and blue tinted dahlias, with fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Ellen Reid, of Auckland, sistei’ of the bride, was wearing a frock of beige pink triple georgette, with insets of neutral lace on the bodice and a gored skirt. Her felt hat, sweetheart style, was in a deeper shade and her bouquet comprised pink dahlias, roses and fem. Mr T. Renouf of Te Aroha, carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony, Mrs M. Dunn and Mrs W. Lomas both of Thames dnd sisters of the bridegroom, assisted Mrs J. E. Bartley to receive the guests at Hotel Ngatea, where the reception was held.
Mrs M. Reid was unable to be present owing to illness. A special toast honoured at the breakfast, was to Gunner H. D. Reid and Pte. D. Reid, brothers of the bride, who are both serving in the Middle East. Mrs Brien travelled in a smoke grey frock with a black coat and red and black accessories.
