WOMEN’S DIVISION
HUIRAU ROAD BRANCH
ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The annual meeting of the Huirau road branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on Thursday, April 13, the president, Mrs G. Scott presiding over a good attendance.
The secretary, Mrs T. Lowe presented the annual report and balance sheet which was read and adopted. The president in a few remarks thanked the members for- the support given during the past year and said that the branch had had many happy times together, which she hoped would continue throughout the coming year. Mrs Scott especially mentioned the amount of knitting done for the merchant seamen and that Mrs Stone had given great assistance in this direction.
Mrs Green on behalf of the members presented Mrs Scott and Mrs Lowe with bouquets 1 and a small gift in appreciation of their past work. A special prize was awarded Mrs Treadaway for not missing any meetings during the past two years.
Officers elected for the coming year were, president, Mrs G. iScott; vicepresident, Mrs W. Maunder; secretary, Mrs T. Lowe; advisory board, Mesdames Green and R. Madgwick; sales table, Mrs A. Green. Winners of monthly competitions were:—
Best bloom.—Mrs Lowe. Pikelets.—Mrs Stone. Mrs Lowe kindly consented to make the Anzac wreath for this year.
