ORDER OF SERVICE

NO MARCH-PAST HELD TRIBUTE PAID IN FLOWERS PERSONNEL OF OFFICIAL PARTY The parade, under the command, of Captain J. M. Craig, formed up under the verandahs in front of the Regent Theatre and led by the returned servicemen and followed by the cadets of the Air Training Corps, Girl Guides, Brownies, Fire Brigade; Scouts, Cubs, Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps, Women’s War Service Auxiliary and St. John Ambulance, marched into the theatre. Pupils of the Paeroa District High School, St. Joseph’s Convent School and the Netherton School also attended the function. The official party consisted of the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, Lieut.Col. J. Oliphant, Major S. J. Hedge, Captain J. G. Milne, Messrs W. Marshall, H. M. Shand, C. C. Webb, W. Smith, J. Walmsley, T. A. Barrett, A. A. Jenkinson, Archdeacon W. G. H. Weadon, Rev. J. R. Nelson, Adjutant A. B. Armstrong (Salvation Army) and Mr G. W. Moore.

The service opened with the singing of the National Anthem led by the Paeroa Municipal Band, after which wreaths were placed on the stage by members of the official party and the organisations represented in the parade followed by tributes from the school children and the general public. wreaths were conveyed to the Cenotaph aftei’ the service. Address by Major Hedge A hymn, “0 God Our Help In Ages Past,” was sung, followed by a prayer offered by Mr G. W. Moore and a scripture lesson read by Rev. J. R. Nelson. A short address was given by Major S. J. Hedge, which was followed by the hymn, “A Valiant Hearts.” / The “ Last Post ” was sounded by Bandsman S. Gear, followed by one minute’s silence and the “Reveille.” The official party then retired from the theatre followed by the parade.
