WHAT IS NEEDED FIRST? FAT STOCK OR DAIRYING REQUEST TO THE MINISTER The need for a lead from the Government as to which section of the farming industry was most important—dairying or fat stock —and which was needed most urgently was emphasised at a meeting of farmers held in Paeroa on Monday. Mr D. G. McMillan protested that to date no definite statement had been... - issued by the Government as to what * was the most important, dairying or fat stock. He pointed out that there
was a shortage of beef as well as dairy products. Farmers should know, he said, so that they could concentrate on the right lines. He then moved that the. Minister of Agriculture ‘be asked to make a cleai 1 announcement over the air and through the press stating, which branch of the farming. industry was the most important and what was the order in which it was needed. The motion was seconded: by Mr H. Baker and carried.
