HOSPITAL RATES

RESOLUTION ON PLAINS REQUEST TO THE MINISTER “ That the council’s contribution to the hospital board be restricted to the amount paid, last year (1943-44),” was a resolution moved by Mr W. H. Cheale and. seconded by Mr C. W. Schultz at the April meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, said he could not accept this resolution as it was mandatory for the council to find its contributions as fixed by the hospital board and the Minister of Health. Mr Cheale then moved “That this council supports the resolution passed at the Paeroa conference asking the Minister to peg the contribution to the Thames ' Hospital Board at the 1938-39 level and the Minister be to review and alter ahe incidence of hospital taxation as soon as possible. This was seconded by Mr D. G. McMillan anti carried.
