Householders’ Meeting We are advised that there were only 28 people present at the meeting of householders held recently to elect the Kerepeehi School Committee, not 40 to 50 as stated previously. All Must Apply A recent Gazette notice states that in future firms declared essential as well as non-essential must apply to the Manpower Officer for permission before engaging labour. Taxi Cab Licence The application of Mr Stanley l Baker of Paeroa for a licence to drive a taxi-cab was granted, at the April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. Anzac Day Arrangements ■ The following attendance will be observed at the Paeroa Post Office on Anzac Day, Tuesday, April 25: 'Postal branch, closed all day; telegraph branch, closed all day; telephone exchange, continuous attendance. To Stand Again * Speaking to a (Gazette representative this morning, Mr C. C. Webb announced that he would definitely contest his seats both on the Paeroa Borough Council and the Thames Valley Electric Power Board at the forthcoming elections. Clerk Congratulated Congratulations were extended l to Mr J. E. 'Green at the April meeting of the • Hauraki -United Drainage Board on the manner in which he had presented the board’s balance sheet. Mr 'Green’s explanations had been a great help to members 1 and. the sound position of the board, contrasted; with its earlier days was a tribute to Mr Green’s administration. Borough Council Meets The April meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council was held in the Borough Chambers on Thursday night, His Worship the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding. Others present were Crs 'H. M. Shand, C. C. Webb, B. Gwilliam 'Snr., F. Sparks, J. Walmsley, E. S. Moore, D. G. McMillan, W. Smith and the acting-town clerk, Mr A. A.' Jenkinson. Ohinemuri Council Meets There were present at the April meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council, Councillors W. Marshall (chairman), J. J. Shallue, T. 'Barrett, F. L. Franklin, T. Cotter, G. A. Avery, R. W. Lowry, C. Christensen and) 8. H. Thompson, with Mr A. A. Jenkinson (county clerk) and Mr L. E. 'Shaw (county engineer).
