Trains On Anzac Day The Railways Department advertises in this issue particulars of train arrangements on Anzac 'Day, April 25. Orphanages Appeal At Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council it was decided to grant the Auckland Orphanages Association permission to hold a collection day on the Plains on Friday, October 20. The council also agreed to support the appeal with a donation of £1 Is. Dance at Turua » Dance enthusiasts seeking a good night’s fun should be sure to reserve the night of May 1 to attend the grand dance to be held by the Turua Football Club. Walker’s Orchestra has been engaged to supply the music and a good supper and novelty prizes will be provided. Gold Duty Receipts Advice that gold duty received for the year ended March 31, 1944, was £4430', 9s lOd was received from the Waihi Borough Council at the meeting of the Thames Hospital Board on Tuesday, members considering this a very satisfactory amount. The April meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council was Heidi at Ngatea on Wednesday, the chairman,* Mi* C. W. Parfitt, presiding. Others present were Crs. D. G. McMillan, W. H. Cheale, C. W. Schultz, F. Pinchess, A. H. Sutton, J. W. Neate, the county clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney and the county engineers, Capt. E. HazeldineBarber and Mr J. C. Clarke. 'Leave of absence was granted to Cr. W. E. Hale.
