Miss. G. M. Gilbert of the staff of the Paerda District High School has been appointed secondary assistant mistress at the Dargaville District High School. Miss M. A. M. McKenney has been appointed infant mistress at the 'Paeroa District High School. The chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt and the clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, were appointed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council to represent the council at the conference of local bodies to 'be held in Thames shortly to discuss with the Minister of Health the incidence of hospital taxation.
A welcome ‘back to the staff of the Hauraki Plains County Council was extended by the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, at Wednesday’s meeting of the council, to Captain E. HazledineBarber, a former engineer employed by the council, whp recently returned from the Middle East. The chairman congratulated Captain Barber on the service he had rendered, referring to the fact that he had been mentioned in despatches. e
