RUGBY IN PAEROA

UNION ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS DONATION TO AMBULANCE The annual meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held in the Patriotic Club on Monday night, His Worship the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding over a fair attendance of players and supporters. The chairman’s annual report (which will be published in full in a later issue), showed that in spite of difficult times quite a good season had been experienced. ' The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr J. W. Silcock; president, the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards; vicepresidents, Messrs P. Williams Snr., J. J. Poland, H. M. Shand, W. Marshall, P. Corbett, E. P. Fathers; committee, Messrs D. G. McMillan, G. Masters, W. F. F. Faber, C. H. Pascoe, H. May, T. Henderson, with

power to add; secretary, Mr J. Verran; treasurer, Mr R. L. Darley; auditor, Mr J. Walmsley. It was decided to forward' a donation of £2 2s to the Paeroa St. John Ambulance in appreciation of the service rendered during the past season. It was decided to hold a working bee next Saturday to get the ground in order. Appreciation of the service given by the referees last season was expressed by the president and. Mr McMillan made an appeal for other old players to come out and help in refereeing during the coming season. Tributes to the work done by Mr H. McGregor in the interests of football were expressed: by members and players and it was decided to send a small gift to him as a token of their esteem and appreciation. It was agreed to open the season on Saturday, April 29. An appeal to all players holding the union’s jerseys to return same to him at once was made by Mr Faber. MR McMILLAN CHAIRMAN MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE 1 At a short meeting of the management committee held after the annual meeting, Mr D. 'G. McMillan was elected chairman. Mr W. F. F. Faber was appointed deputy-chairman.
