COACH NEEDED
RUGBY AT HIGH SCHOOL APPEAL BY MR D. G. McMILLAN The need, for more interest to be taken in the sport of rugby in the schools of the town and district, was emphasised by the chairman of the management committee, Mr D. G. McMillan, at Monday night’s meeting ’of the Paeroa Rugby Union. Mr McMillan appealed to some of the older footballers and even those who had retired from the sport to come forward and assist in the coaching of the boys at the schools. These boys were the union’s players of to-morrow, he pointed out, and needed the best grounding that it was possible to give them. At present the schools were very short of male teachers, especially at the Paeroa High School and the headmaster had spoken to him on the subject, pointing out that at present the boys were not getting much coaching. Mr Day had suggested that the Paeroa Rugby Union should interest itself in the matter and take all steps possible to raise the standard of play. Mr McMillan appealed to any person willing to assist in this direction to contact him.
