KITCHEN EVENING
FUNCTION AT WHITIANGA * MR AND MRS COMER HONOURED A very enjoyable kitchen evening organised by Mrs S. Tucker, was held at Mrs Heald’s residence, Whitianga, on Thursday evening. The room was tastefully decorated with beautiful dahlias and zinnias. The guests of the evening were Mr and Mrs Comer who received a very nice collection of useful gifts, including a handsome hanging mirror. The evening passed plesantly with community singing and novelty games. A novel feature was the holding of a mock court, Mr Rose wearing an appropriate wig, acted as judge, assisted by Mr S. Tucker who ably carried out the duties 1 of prosecutor. Great fun was caused as each offender answered to his charge in pleas of “guilty” or “not guilty.” The charges were most original and the sentences ranged from heavy fines to the placing on of the black cap. Mr and Mrs Comer thanked their friends cordially for the useful gifts. A most enjoyable savoury supper was served.
