HELP WANTED

QUESTION OF DRAIN CLEANING APPEAL MADE TO SETTLERS A decision, to appeal to farmers to assist the board in getting the drains cleaned this autumn was reached at Thursday’s meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board. The shortage of labour available for drain cleaning work was brought to the notice of the Board when the clerk, Mr J. E. Green reported that very few tenders for drain cleaning had been received. Members expressed the opinion that if farmers did not assist the board it would be impossible to carry out the drain cleaning necessary. Members agreed to appeal to settiers to at least contract to clean the drains near their properties. It was decided to advertise, appealing for assistance.
