WAITAKARURU FACTORY SUITABILITY OF THE PLAINS The suitability of the Hauraki Plains for cheese production was emphasised at the annual meeting of the suppliers of the New Zealand Cb-operative Dairy Company’s Waitakaruru factory held recently when the progress of the factory from its establishment was traced. The factory had started as a very small unit, and to-day it is amongst the largest cheese factories in New Zealand with an annual output of over £lOO,OOO in value. All the milk for the factory is obtained within a radius of five miles, and with its bulk cartage collection for delivery to the factory, cheap water transport of the cheese to Auckland, this factory will continue to be a most efficient and economic unit.
