KEEP IT IN MIND

PAEROA-POKENO LINE MR SUTHERLAND SPEAKS SOME MAINTENANCE NEEDED A request that the Minister keep closely under review the necessity for the completion of the railway line from Paeroa to Pokeno was made by Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki, in speaking to the Estimates in the , House of Representatives recently. Mr Sutherland said that the line, when completed, would relieve the main trunk line and save the haulage of many thousands of tons of goods for a considerable distance. Much stock went from the area to the Auckland province. He stated that he had noticed that the part of the line already constructed was falling into disrepair in places, and he trusted that the Minister would see that every effort was made to prevent deterioration of the work already done.
